Mercy

“He forgives all your iniquity, he heals all your diseases, he redeems your life from the pit, he crowns you with steadfast love and mercy”

Ps 103:3-4

“The invocation of God’s mercy needs to rise up from the depth of hearts filled with suffering, apprehension and uncertainty, and at the same time yearning for an infallible source of hope.”

Pope Saint John Paul II

“As St. Augustine says, mercy is heartfelt sympathy for another’s distress, impelling us to succor him if we can. For mercy takes its name misericordia from denoting a man’s compassionate heart [miserum cor] for another’s unhappiness.” St. Thomas Aquinas

Through the centuries the Popes have stirred in our hearts and minds a desire to better know and receive God’s mercy. The Popes have taught us to pray to our Merciful Redeemer to envelop the whole world and empty Himself out upon us.
